About
Kanab has been Hollywood's desert backlot since the 1930s—over 100 westerns, TV serials, and feature films have used this southern Utah canyon country as their stage. The town earned the nickname 'Utah's Little Hollywood' from decades of productions drawn to the Vermilion Cliffs, buff sandstone mesas, and the kind of sky that makes every wide shot feel like a painting. The Little Hollywood Museum documents the town's film heritage, while the Kane County Film Commission—part of Utah's Film Ready Utah network—offers hands-on support from scouts who know every slot canyon and ghost town within 50 miles. Parry Lodge, on the National Register of Historic Places, still operates as a base camp-style accommodation blocks from the action.
