“Classic New England agricultural fair — covered exhibition pavilions, livestock barns, midway, grandstand, and the forest-and-farm landscape of southern New Hampshire's hills”
About
The Deerfield Fair is New Hampshire's largest agricultural fair — a classic New England fairground in a wooded hillside setting south of Concord. Covered wooden exhibition pavilions, livestock barns, a grandstand, and midway are set among oak and maple trees that provide extraordinary autumn foliage color in late September when the fair runs. The surrounding southern New Hampshire landscape is rolling forest-and-farm country, distinctly different from the manicured New England villages of tourist imagination. Deerfield reads as authentic rural working-class New England. Boston's production infrastructure is 30 minutes south, making logistics practical. For productions requiring a genuine small-scale New England agricultural fair environment — particularly for period pieces set in the 19th or early 20th century — Deerfield provides a setting with genuine historical character.
