“Soaring white lighthouse on forested headland above Pacific; Victorian keeper's cottage (now B&B); sea caves below; one of Oregon's most-photographed landmarks”
Heceta Head Lighthouse is arguably the most dramatically situated lighthouse on the Pacific Coast. Perched on a forested headland 205 feet above the Pacific, the white tower commands sweeping ocean views from the central Oregon Coast. The Victorian keeper's cottage — now operating as a bed and breakfast — adds charming period architecture to the scene. Sea caves and rocky tide pools at the base provide cinematic foreground options. Featured in numerous commercial productions and films, the site is well-versed in working with film crews. Oregon State Parks manages commercial use permits via email. Seasonal sea mist, crashing Pacific swells, and dense Sitka spruce forests create layered visual depth. The lighthouse appeared as the visual inspiration for The Ring's 'Moesko Island' lighthouse. Accessible from US-101 near Florence with roadside pullouts.
