“A dramatic sandstone gorge carved by the Big South Fork of the Cumberland River — sweeping cliff faces, natural arches, historic cabin communities, and remote wilderness trails. The Charit Creek Lodge is one of America's last backcountry lodges.”
Old World Wisconsin in Eagle, Wisconsin is America's largest outdoor ethnic heritage museum—600 acres of Wisconsin countryside encompassing 10 distinct immigrant farmstead clusters depicting German, Polish, Finnish, Norwegian, and Danish agricultural communities from 1840–1915. Operated by the Wisconsin Historical Society, the museum features over 60 historic structures including farmhouses, barns, churches, and a complete crossroads village representing successive waves of Midwestern European immigrant life. Both interior and extensive exterior filming available across all farmstead areas. The site's extraordinary diversity of European-American vernacular architectural traditions creates unmatched visual resources for late 19th-century Midwest immigration narratives, period drama, and documentary productions. A premier Wisconsin film location for Midwestern European immigrant heritage storytelling. Filming permits available through Wisconsin Historical Society Film Office. Formal state agency film permit required for commercial productions.
